The movie “The Last Casino” is a 2004 Canadian movie about card counting. The movie derives its idea fully from the book “Bringing Down the House”. Gambling fans in Canada especially love this film as it gives them hope that they too can win big in Vegas, even if they’ve never been there before.

Much like the movie “21” from 2008, it talks about Professor Burns being unexpectedly called to the creditor’s office following the accumulation of his debts. Burns suddenly comes up with an idea to form a group of “card counters”, since this is the only way in which can pay back the creditor.

The creditor cuts off the professor’s pinky finger tip completely as a warning to pay his debts, but tells him that he will consider the offer. Burns goes for it, enlists three of the university’s brightest students and lures them for $1,000 a night if each one does a little math. He begins teaching them the art of card counting. Slowly, the students realize how easy this way is to get money in a casino, and the pressure they’re under increases so that the professor can pay off his debts.

However, if you’re like most Canadian fans of the movie and really think you will become a “big shot” at card counting after watching the movie, then you’re wrong. It takes much more than the power of mind; you need 3 more observes to tell you, as a big player, when and if you should gamble. Because if the card deck is cold it means you are about to lose, and if it’s hot, you’re more likely to win big. But you never start on the zero in a table. Therefore, once you decide to leave games like poker or roulette, make sure you come with a team.
